My father woke me up around 6:20 to tell me about the coordinated attacks on the London underground. Yet another cold shiver went through me. The nature of the attacks strongly suggests Al Queda rather than the IRA. Blair has spoken to the nation, wisely giving little details, but reiterating his resolve.
Although the cleanup is not yet finished, I think we can take heart in the fact that, despite the four explosions, there have been few fatalities. The numbers look high and any death is too many, but one would expect an attack made without warning during rush hour to have caused higher casualties. London will recover, people will get on with their lives, and democracy will continue to function.
And that will be the biggest middle finger we can stick in the face of these terrorists.
My thoughts and prayers go to the people of London.
