I’m sorry to say that my original novel, Rosemary and Time, was rejected by the Delacorte Press Contest for First Young Adult Novel. I just received the letter today. It was a kind letter, as form letters go.
I know from experience that getting into the writing industry is difficult, that one encounters far more rejection than acceptance, especially on one’s first crack at getting in. I know all that, but I have to say that the news still hurt.
Oh, well. But the only thing to do is to get back on my feet again. I think I have a publishable novel, and I won’t rest until I have it published. Next week, I will send sample chapters, query letters and outlines to at least two publishers. And if they come back negative, I’ll find two more.
I’m working on the story’s synopsis right now. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I’m not giving up.
