"There Are No Monsters in the Oval Office"
(Doctor Who Season 6 Preview Debuts)

Please note that if you haven’t watched the preview first, then spoilers follow…

I like this. I like this a lot. No, there’s not much to see, as this is clearly a teaser for the upcoming season, but it touches a number of good high points. The president’s voice sounds rather Bartlett-ish (nice little crossover potential there!) and the direction has a whole Empty Child vibe, what with the little girl’s voice and the tape recorder and everything.

I’m a little leery of the X-Files alien. For me the look is so definitively locked to that series that I will end up going into this episode expecting Fox Mulder to come out. If the Fox series had ended two seasons earlier, that might be a good thing, but the show went so far up its own continuity at the end that I just gave up, leaving the whole thing with a rather tainted feel. But, then again, this is Steven Moffat we’re talking about here, and this is a two minute teaser; there’s plenty of time to win me over.

What this teaser has done so far is made me very excited about the upcoming new season. I am looking forward to it all.

Doctor Who: The Impossible Astronaut debuts in the UK and the United States on Saturday, April 23. No word yet as to the Canadian debut, though it shouldn’t be too far off that.

UPDATE: InnerSpace has announced that the new season of Doctor Who will be appearing on Space also on Saturday, April 23. We get it an hour ahead of the Americans, at 8 p.m. EDT. Great work, guys!
