I took this picture a few months ago, when my parents were putting up their Christmas tree. Christmas tree decorations can almost be a time machine. Not only do the decorations themselves last for years, being family heirlooms that get stored away eleven months out of the year, the boxes they're stored in are boxes that were handy during the Christmas when the decorations were first packed. Some of these boxes can be interesting paraphanalia in their own right.
Case in point: care to guess when my parents bought this set of weights? I believe the box has outlived those weights, thanks to being pressed into use for storing Christmas decorations. And by the picture on the box, we can see that this box has outlived several changes in fashion, and the collapse of at least some sexist imagery.
