For an early Christmas present, I bought Nora a small Lego set, and she and I had fun putting it together a few days ago. It’s part of Lego’s “City” collection: a fire chief’s car. It comes with a firefighter figure, a cat, a tree for the cat to get caught in, and a tuna for the fire-fighter to help entice the cat down.
It also comes with the cat’s owner: a classic Lego mini-fig, who is clearly female, thanks to the use of lipstick and long, flowing blonde hair.
But, spot the assumption, why don’t you? Why can’t the female figure be the firefighter?
