I am pleased to announce that Icarus Down has been nominated for the Snow Willow Award for 2017. The Willow Awards are Saskatchewan’s Young Readers’ choice awards. Each year, ten books are nominated in three categories (the Snow Willow is for readers in grades 7-9), and students read and vote for their picks for each award. More than 5,000 students participated in the first Willow Awards, in 2002, and that number has only grown.

I am pleased to be nominated amongst some very familiar names and titles, including Kate Blair’s Transferral, Meaghan McIsaac’s Movers and Richard Scrimger’s Lucky Jonah. The winners will be announced on May 4, but honestly, it’s just an honour to be nominated. This is, I believe, my first ever such nomination.

Congratulations and best of luck to all the nominees!
